Holi
- Significance Of Holi
Holi isn't just an occasion to make merry and go wild in the color-frenzy. It has worthy significance as well which is both culturally and spiritually important to reckon with.
Spritually, Holi signifies the triumph of Good over Evil, of all that's unpleasant over all that's eternally beautiful. Through its rituals of bonfires and burning of dry leaves and twigs, Holi also symbolizes the burning of the negative forces from earth-a kind of spiritual purgation you might say.
Culturally speaking, the festival of Holi strengthens bonds between people, bringing them closer in all this colorful mirth and merriment. It gives a reason to settle old scores, if any, in its spirited catchline "Bura na mano, Holi hai" (Don't bear any ill-feelings in your heart because it's Holi). Also, the smearing of colors signifies deconstructing identities and coming on an even plane forgetting all differences prevailing whatsoever-who's high or who's low, who's rich or who's poor, and who's young or who's old. So Holi is the time to celebrate with all, being all and one in all shades of color and joy !
So here's wishing you a very Happy Holi !
